We are writing with both happy and sad news: The Fair Trade Trio has decided to part ways. We have had the most incredible experiences over the years and have so much to proudly look back on: being named the 2020 Spotlight Artists for Music for Autism, our residency for young composers at Smith College, our work promoting living and historically under-represented composers, two successful tours of the Pacific Northwest, and our recent “In Focus” virtual concert series (with a pioneering format that we hope catches on in the musical community)! Our commissioned piece by Emily Doolittle, Field Guide (2017), is still one of our most requested works and we hope it will become a staple of the string trio literature.

The trio remains the best of friends and forever each other’s cheerleaders. Hannah welcomed her first baby, Mira, this past year and has accepted a viola professor position at Bowling Green State University. Ashley welcomed her second baby, Easton, also this past year, and is currently helping to manage and perform with the Washington Heights Chamber Orchestra which is transitioning to a musician-led model.  Madeline continues to perform and teach in the New York area, is the best cat mom to Mike, and is low-key becoming a professional (amazing) baker. (Follow her at @greenpointbaking on Instagram for mouthwatering kitchen adventures).

None of this would have ever been possible without you. Your support, whether in person or virtual, near or far, or all of the above, has meant everything to us over the years. We hope you continue to find other opportunities to enjoy and experience live music, because you were truly the best audience. Thank you for everything!

Finally, we’d like to share with you the video from our final performance on May 22nd, 2022 at the DiMenna Center. Thank you for being on this journey with us.

Sincerely
The Fair Trade Trio and the board of the Fair Trade Chamber Music Society.
